Join us for the Sioux Falls Independence Day Celebration on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.The event will feature a walk/run, parade, a free lunch for the first 5,000 attendees followed by live music and entertainment.

Independence Day Celebration festivities take place each year on the July 4.

The picnic festivities are located at Falls Park in Sioux Falls, SD —located at 131 East falls Park Drive

No, Independence Day Celebration activities are FREE!!! Generous sponsorships as well as volunteers from the community allow the event to remain free to the public. 

There is no parking along the parade route during the road closures.  We suggest that you park your car at one of the downtown parking ramps and view the parade from a downtown location.

Overflow parking is also available at the intersection of East Falls Park Drive and North First Avenue.

ADA Parking is available at the Park Office at 6th & Phillips and at Falls Park Farmer’s Market.
Reminder to come early as road closures will begin along the parade route approximately 9:30 a.m.  We will leave Falls Park Drive open to assist in parking until 10 a.m.

Please be advised of construction on Phillips Avenue between 2nd and 6th Streets. 
Limited viewing area along this section of the parade route.

There will be a limited number of people movers on a designated route along Phillips Avenue to the intersection of 5th & Phillips for those needing assistance.

People movers will run from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The trolley route will reopen at the conclusion of the parade.  An alternate drop off location will be at the intersection of East Falls Park Drive and North Second Avenue until Falls Park is reopened at approximately 2 p.m. to normal traffic.

We highly recommend it! A special bike rack area will be located near the Ag Museum.

We ask that you refrain from riding a bike during the fun run/walk. This event draws several thousand people and can make it difficult to navigate the route on a bike.

The events are completely handicap accessible including wheelchair accessible port-a-pots and reserved ADA parking. “Seeing eye” and “support” dogs are welcome.

The picnic is in Falls Park so bring a small lawn chair or blanket, sunblock, and sunglasses!

If you bring a stroller or wagon, we have a designated serving line. Watch for signs near the serving line.

The meal will be served to the first 5,000 people.

No. The Independence Day Celebration is a hot and crowded place; and is not a place for pets. 

To receive a free t-shirt, the deadline to sign up is approximately two weeks prior to the event. Walk up registrations will be accepted, but a t-shirt is not guaranteed.
