Board Vacancy—Zoological Society of Sioux Falls Board of Directors
Mayor Mike Huether has announced a vacancy to the Zoological Society of Sioux Falls Board of Directors.
The Zoological Society of Sioux Falls Board of Directors oversees the Great Plains Zoo. The Great Plains Zoo is a progressive nonprofit organization that serves more than 315,000 visitors annually on its 45-acre campus. The Zoo’s Board of Directors provides oversight and ensures the financial health of this dynamic organization. Board members assist with and provide counsel on fundraising and operations, as well as influence support of the organization. Members of the Board of Directors are also advocates of the Zoo’s mission of connecting kids with animals and nature, and champion its diverse programs and services, including education programming, Zoo access for disadvantaged individuals and families, and regional and global conservation efforts.
The Board may be composed of up to 21 members, including two mayoral appointments. Mayoral appointments are appointed for a three-year term by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.
Monthly Board meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month during the lunch hour.
