Structure Fire at 3321 North Ninth Avenue

At 3:34 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 3321 North Ninth Avenue.

The first arriving truck reported fire and smoke on approach. Crews found heavy fire in the garage and encountered light fire and heavy smoke damage throughout the structure. Crews conducted a primary and secondary search of the home and confirmed that all residents were out. SFFR personnel extinguished the fire in approximately 20 minutes. Fire crews immediately established ventilation to remove remaining smoke, followed by overhaul operations to confirm there were no concealed or residual hot spots.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. The American Red Cross was notified and offered assistance to the residents.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 19 personnel, four fire trucks, and three support vehicles.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation.

The home did not have a residential sprinkler system. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to have working smoke detectors and a practiced escape plan in the event of a fire emergency.
