Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind you to check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors and change the batteries. A good time to remember to do this is when you set your clocks back an hour at the end of Daylight Saving Time this weekend.
The National Fire Protection Association reports that 71 percent of smoke alarms that failed to operate had missing, disconnected, or dead batteries. This reinforces the importance of taking this time each year to test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and replace the batteries.
