Car Crashes into House; Driver Receives Serious Injury
A 21-year-old Sioux Falls man is in the hospital with life‑threatening injuries after his 2001 Chrysler 300 crashed into a house. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 800 block of North Leadale Avenue.
In that block of Leadale Avenue, there is a curve in the road. The car was traveling north on Leadale Avenue and was unable to stay on the roadway. The car hit the curb, grazed a tree in the boulevard, and struck a house. During the accident, the car flipped in the air and, while it was upside down, hit the front of the house. The car traveled across the front of the house and stopped in the garage. The driver had a skull fracture. No occupants of the home were injured.
After some preliminary accident investigation, it appears that speed is a factor and there are some indicators that alcohol may have been used.
