Ride Sharing Now Available in Sioux Falls!
The ride-hailing company Lyft is operational in Sioux Falls and across South Dakota. To recognize Lyft’s arrival in the city, Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether and City Councilor Christine Erickson took the first ride at noon today.
Lyft is a transportation networking company (TNC) that operates in more than 300 cities nationwide, completing more than 28 million rides per month. Riders must download the Lyft mobile app to their smartphone to connect with Lyft drivers.
A team of City and State officials, as well as resident Greg LaFollette, have been working for months to bring this type of service to the city.
“We are excited the great people of South Dakota will have yet another option for transportation. We are thrilled Lyft has decided to expand their market and check off the final state to their ride-sharing map,” says Councilor Christine Erickson.
