On September 3, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of West 12th Street and South Grange Avenue. Shortly after the accident occurred, one of the vehicles became engulfed in flames.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded and was able to extinguish the flames. The driver was safely removed from the vehicle by citizens on scene prior to emergency personnel arrival.
The investigation showed that a white Buick LeSabre failed to yield during a left turn to a blue Toyota that was westbound on West 12th Street. The driver and occupants of both vehicles were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is currently investigating the possible cause of the vehicle fire.
