Work of Plein Air Painter Featured at Siouxland Libraries Downtown Library
Paintings by Sioux Falls artist Stephen Randall will be featured at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, throughout October and November. The Library Gallery is open during regular hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday.
A former combat artist in Vietnam, Randall found his passion in the plein air-style landscape painting. “Painting outdoors, on location, and alla prima (start to finish) has become part of my lifestyle,” he says. “I enjoy the challenge of recording with paint and canvas the landscapes I see at the place where I am.”
Randall’s impressionist-style paintings showcase the landscapes of South Dakota from Falls Park to Spearfish Canyon. “I believe that my paintings have relevance and significance, reinforcing a sense of place for the people of South Dakota,” Randall says.
