Apartment Fire at 1905 West 42nd Street

On Saturday morning, April 28, 2018, at approximately 9:50 a.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a report of an apartment fire at 1905 West 42nd Street.

Fire Rescue units arrived on scene to find normal conditions; however, on their interior search, smoke and fire were located in one of the apartments. The fire was quickly extinguished. The fire was confined to its room of origin with minor smoke damage to the rest of the apartment. The occupants of the fire apartment awoke to sounding smoke detectors. The rest of the building’s tenants exited when hearing the building’s fire alarm system. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to either tenants or responders reported.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with four fire trucks, two support vehicles, and 18 personnel. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to emphasize the importance of having working smoke detectors and the early reporting to 911.
