Siouxland Libraries’ Winter Reading Program Introduces Music with Lynda.com
As part of Siouxland Libraries’ Winter Reading Program, Libraries Rock!, the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, will offer an introduction to the basics of reading, writing, and composing music in a two-part series, Music with Lynda.com, Thursdays, January 11 and 18, 2018, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The first session begins with an introduction to the popular online educational software, Lynda.com. It will be followed by Music Notation: The Basics. That will be continued in the second session, which will also include a brief overview of additional music courses, including lessons for a variety of instruments, and music theory for songwriters. Hands-on exercises and games will supplement both classes.
Lynda.com, which also offers programs designed to advance users’ business and technology skills, is free to those with a Siouxland Libraries card. To sign up for an account (required for the classes), go to www.siouxlandlib.org/databases and scroll down to Lynda.com or come early to the first class for sign-up assistance.
