Gitchie Girl Authors and Survivor to Appear at Siouxland Libraries Downtown Library
Phil and Sandy Hamman, authors of the best-selling true crime book Gitchie Girl, will share the inside story of the 1973 murder of four teens at Gitchie Manitou State Park at a presentation hosted by Siouxland Libraries on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Sandra Cheskey, the lone survivor of the horrific event, will also attend.
The presentation at Siouxland Libraries Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, will also focus on Cheskey’s struggles to rebuild her life emotionally and spiritually following a sexual assault that night. After publishing Gitchie Girl in January 2016, the Hamman’s book became a No. 1 national best seller on several Barnes & Noble and Amazon true crime lists.
Because seating is limited, those who attend must present a ticket for admission. Free tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the door beginning at 5:30 p.m. A question-and-answer session and book signing will follow the program. Books will be available for purchase.
If an ADA accommodation is needed, please contact the Human Relations Office at 605‑367‑8745 or firstname.lastname@example.org at least 72 hours before the event.
