26th Street and Minnesota Avenue
Intersection Reconstruction and
Pavement Patching from 33rd Street to 22nd Street

Beginning on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., Minnesota Avenue traffic at 26th Street will be temporarily moved to the existing east lanes to allow for a replacement of a water valve along the southbound lanes of Minnesota Avenue. Northbound and southbound traffic will travel on a short gravel patch during this work.

Traffic along 26th Street will remain in place with one lane in each direction.

Beginning on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 traffic along Minnesota Avenue will be shifted back to the west with one northbound lane and one southbound traffic lane.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speeds while traveling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.

Street Closures – Career Avenue and Maple Lane

Beginning on Monday, May 14, 2018, North Career Avenue will be closed south of the Southeast Tech campus to North Terry Avenue. Traffic will be detoured along West Madison Street, North Marion Road, and West Maple Street. Additionally, North Maple Lane will closed to thru-traffic between West Maple Street and West Innovation Street. Traffic will be detoured along West Maple Street, North Career Avenue and West Innovation Street. Access will be maintained to local businesses and the Southeast Tech campus.

This is the first phase of a project to resurface North Career Avenue between West Innovation Street and North Terry Avenue, and North Maple Lane between West Innovation Street and West Maple Street.

In addition to asphalt resurfacing, this project will also replace ADA curb ramp sidewalks, areas of concrete curb and gutter, and complete minor storm and sanitary sewer repairs.

This work is anticipated to be complete by mid-July 2018. Additional updates will be provided for future phases.

Ellis Road Reconstruction
West 32nd Street and Ellis Road Intersection

Beginning on Monday, May 14, 2018, the intersection of Ellis Road and West 32nd Street will be closed to traffic to install underground utilities.

Phase 1 work between Lancaster Drive and 26th Street will continue. Local traffic west of Ellis Road will be provided access at Lancaster Drive, 22nd Street and Stoney Creek. 26th Street will be open to traffic at all times during the project. Traffic will be detoured from Ellis Road to 26th Street, Sertoma Avenue, and 41st Street.

West 32nd Street and Ellis Road intersection is anticipated to be closed for five working days then open to traffic until paving operations are completed.

The project is expected to re-open to traffic in the fall of 2018. Restoration work will be completed in 2019.

26th Street and 41st Street Access Improvements

Beginning on Monday, May 14, 2018, concrete median work and joint repairs will be performed near the intersections of West 26th Street and South Lorraine Drive, West 26th Street and South Edna Avenue, and West 41st Street and South Sertoma Avenue. Traffic will be detoured around the construction area.

This work is anticipated to be complete no later than July 2, 2018.

Downtown Alley Closure

Beginning on Monday morning, May 14, 2018, the alley between South Main Avenue and South Phillips Avenue from Tenth Street to 11th Street will be closed to thru traffic.

Xcel Energy will be performing utility work and is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day on May 21, 2018.
