Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum
The Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum encompasses over 140 acres of varied terrain, including wetlands, gardens, and native plants and trees. The property, which is jointly operated by Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and the Wegner Arboretum Society, stretches to the river on two sides. It includes natural areas containing actively managed native plant communities; landscaped areas containing portions of the tree, shrub, and plant collections; and a series of gardens that recreate the historic use of plants by people of different cultures who lived on this site. Construction of the Arboretum project started in 2010. The second phase, which was completed in 2014, includes the Mabel and Judy Jasper Educational Center and the Arboretum Formal Gardens.
The Arboretum, its gardens, and the Jasper Educational Center can be rented for weddings, reunions, graduations, or other special events. To reserve for your event or for further information, please call the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum at 605-274-7114 or 605-367-4114 during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) or go to www.maryjowegnerarboretum.com.
