Local Limits

Local limits are wastewater restrictions that apply to commercial and industrial facilities that discharge to the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW). Local limits are established in order to protect POTW, receiving water quality, worker health and safety, and improve opportunities for beneficial use of biosolids from non-domestic discharges.

Local limits are designed to control pollutants from commercial and industrial wastewater discharges. The City of Sioux Falls is required by 40 CFR 403.5(c) to implement local limits. The City currently has limits on the following pollutants:
