"Be a Star Reader" is the reading goal for elementary students in this year's Leaders are Readers reading incentive program sponsored by Mayor Dave Munson, the Sioux Falls School District, and Siouxland Libraries.
Students are challenged to "Shoot for the Moon" by reading 20 minutes a day for at least 40 days between October 1 and December 8. This year's reading challenge materials - reading logs, bookmarks, and certificates -- were inspired by the fortieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon.
Mayor Munson will visit schools during the reading challenge to talk to students about the importance of reading. Each participating school will receive a new book for its library.
