Downtown Library’s Art Walls Feature Images of South Dakota’s Rural Landscape

Works by South Dakota artist Nan Venhuizen will be featured at the Siouxland Libraries Downtown Library from December 2019 through February 2020. The display includes large, highly textured palette knife paintings of rural South Dakota.

“Ever since a child, I’ve felt the need to celebrate the world through art,” Venhuizen says on her website. “I painted in watercolor and acrylic before discovering the luscious texture of oil paint!”

Until her recent move to Sioux Falls, the artist has lived in rural South Dakota, whose unique beauty inspires her art. “I was raised on a farm in Kingsbury County and lived the majority of my adult life on the outskirts of Armour, South Dakota, a town of 700.”
