2022 Teen Writing Contest

Siouxland Libraries invites teens to submit a spooky short story for its Teen Writing Contest. Stories may be based on a real experience, fiction, or blend of both.

 

Submissions open September 26 and will be accepted through October 21. Submit stories by emailing them to teenlibcontest@siouxfalls.org with the subject line "Spooky Teen Writing Contest." Winners will be contacted in advance of a public announcement on Siouxland Libraries’ website and social media pages on Monday, October 31.

Rules:

1. Open to 6 th - to 12th -graders
2. Stories must be rated PG or PG-13
3. 1000 words or less

Entries must include name, grade, school, and phone or email.

Entries may have more than one author. Only one prize per entry will be awarded.

Stories by all winners will be posted on Siouxland Libraries’ website and social media pages.

*Optional: Submit a video of yourself reading your story. Readings of first place winners in each age group will be posted online. If you choose not to submit a video, library staff will record a reading of your work.
