Support Your Library
Here are several ways you can help your local library.
Volunteer
We need your time, talent, and dedication! Many volunteer opportunities are available at our library locations, including:
- Shelving books
- Delivering materials for our Homebound and Daycare Delivery services
We need both short-term and long-term volunteers. Children who have completed 7th grade may volunteer at Siouxland Libraries. Parental consent must be obtained for applicants under 18 years of age.
Print the volunteer application form and return it to any branch of Siouxland Libraries.
For more information, please call the branch you are interested in helping. Locations and hours
Book Donations
We accept popular fiction, new nonfiction, award-winning books, children's books, and local history items. We are unable to accept encyclopedias, textbooks, audiovisual materials (CDs, DVDs, etc.), books in poor condition, and outdated items.
If you are donating five items or fewer, take them to any Siouxland Libraries branch (see listing). Give the items to a staff member. We are unable to accept items that are outdated, in poor condition, or do not otherwise meet library needs.
Donations of more than five items are accepted only at the Downtown Library. Please bag or box the items. Call 367-8700 ahead of time if you are bringing multiple bags or boxes.
More information about book donations at Siouxland Libraries can be found in the PDF on the right side of this page.
Memorial and Honorary Gifts
A special way to honor friends and loved ones, and at the same time support your community, is to have a book, several books or other materials purchased for the library with your monetary donation. You may do this to celebrate:
- Birthdays
- Birth of a child
- Retirement
- Other special occasions
- Someone's life (Memorial)
Each item will have a bookplate identifying the donor and the person being honored.
To make a donation, print the Gifts & Memorials Form (at right) and mail it to Siouxland Libraries. Forms are also available at any Siouxland Libraries location. For more information, call 367-8700.
Endowment and Memorial Funds
Individuals or organizations may establish memorial or endowment funds by giving a considerable donation to purchase materials in honor or memory of someone special over an extended period of time. Memorial or endowment funds may also be established to meet other operating needs of the library. For more information, call 367-8700.
