Learning at Home

Siouxland Libraries offers services to support parents and caregivers in the library and at home.

Get a library card today!

A Siouxland Libraries card provides free access to print materials, eBooks, eAudiobooks, learning resources, and other streaming materials.

It's easy! You can either sign up online or in person at any branch.

  • If you sign up in person, make sure to bring a photo ID. If your photo ID does not have your current address on it, bring a document that lists your current address.
  • If you are under 18, bring a parent or guardian with you to sign up for a card.

How do I place a hold?

If the library owns the item you want, you may place a hold on it. This will reserve it for you when it is returned to the library. When the item is available, you will receive a notice telling you that you can pick it up at the library branch you select.

You will need your library card and the barcode number on the back for the following:

To place a hold online:
  1. Go to the library catalog and search.
  2. Once you find the item you want, click "Place Request."
  3. Enter your barcode number (14 digits on the back of the card) and your PIN (password) and click "Log In."
  4. Select the location where you will pick the item up.
  5. Click on "Submit Request."
To place a hold by phone:

Call 367-8700 or any Siouxland Libraries branch.

To place a hold in person:

Ask at the desk of any Siouxland Libraries branch.

How do I schedule a curbside pickup?

Our branches are currently open for browsing and grab and go service, but if you prefer to get your items with curbside pickup, we have you covered!

How does curbside work?
  1. Get started by visiting our curbside page.
  2. Look for items that are available now and place a request.
  3. You will receive a notification when your items are ready. Set your own pickup appointment, or call the branch.
  4. Your items will be on a table or cart outside the library. If you have items to return, please use the book return.

How do I find books on specific topics?

Use our catalog and the search bar at the top to type the topic. Start with fewer words rather than long phrases. For more tips and instructions for successful searches, click HELP at the bottom of the catalog page. Not finding what you are looking for?
