Everyone knows that libraries offer a great selection of reading and research materials. But today’s libraries offer way more than just books! Here are just a few services available to you with (and without) a Siouxland Libraries card.
For All Ages
1. Interlibrary Loans
Have a book that you’re super stoked to read, but it’s not in our catalog? Or perhaps you’re a fan of classic, hard-to-find movies? Don’t despair–we can likely order it for you via interlibrary loan!*
Through a nationwide collaboration, librarians across the country work together to get you the materials you’re looking for. It’s like the library version of a whisper network! (Shhh. )
Take advantage of this option today by speaking with a librarian or signing up here using your current library card. (You can get a library card here if you don’t already have one.)
2. Movies, Music, Magazines, and More with hoopla!
If you’re an avid reader, you’re probably already familiar with eBooks and eAudiobooks. But did you know that you can also stream movies, music, and magazines, using the hoopla app?
That’s right–in addition to digital books, hoopla also offers these services, along with TV series and even your favorite comics! The best part? No waitlists!
3. Databases and Research
Whether you want to trace your family tree, read old newspaper articles, or find academic articles for a class, we’ve got you covered.
From Ancestry.com** to World Book for Kids, Siouxland Libraries offers a variety of publications to meet your research needs. So go ahead and research a topic today!
Always wanted to learn a new language, but don’t want to pay for a subscription to become quickly conversational? Check out Mango Languages.
Free to use with your library card, Mango goes beyond the basics by incorporating the six critical skills of language learning: vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, culture, comprehension, and retention. Follow guided lessons, practice perfecting your accent, and even watch movies in the designated language.
Boost your technology skills or learn the basics through a variety of digital resources. We also offer in-person computer classes from time to time. (And of course, we’re always happy to answer any techy questions you might have!)
6. Faxing, Scanning, and Printing
Whether you’re faxing a form or scanning a flier, we offer low-cost copying and printing services. And you can even print from home using the mobile printing option!
Love reading great books and discussing them with others? You’ll fit right in at one of our book clubs! From biographies to sweet reads and everything in between, you’re sure to find a niche that matches your interests. And if the book club you’re interested in is currently full, be sure to get on the waitlist to be notified when a spot becomes available.
Want to branch out and start your own book club? You’ll love our Book Club To Go option, where you can reserve copies of popular books in advance and meet with friends on the go.
