Voting Isn't Just For Adults

The general election is quickly approaching on November 5. While you need to be 18 years old to vote for the next president, there is an exciting opportunity for younger citizens to discover the power of their voice.
Voting for the South Dakota Children’s Book Awards and the Teen Choice Awards is open now through March 2025. Each year, these awards shine a spotlight on the best books for young readers and teens. It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover new favorites and engage with the joy of reading.
South Dakota Children’s Book Awards
The SD Children’s Book Awards are divided into three categories organized by age: Prairie Bud for PreK through 1st grade, Prairie Bloom for 2nd and 3rd grade, and Prairie Pasque for 4th and 5th grade. The purpose of this yearly vote is to encourage children to become enthusiastic, discriminating readers.

To cast your vote, visit the SDLA website and select the Student Vote button for the corresponding category.
South Dakota Teen Choice Awards
The SD Teen Choice Awards are divided into two age groups: Middle School and High School.
