Cook the Book―Recipes from Pioneer Times

Every member of the Ingalls family, whose story is the subject of the 2019 One Book Siouxland, Prairie Fires: the American Dreams of Laura Ingalls Wilder, likely had a home-cooked favorite dish.

You may find a new favorite old-time recipe through Siouxland Libraries’ popular Cook the Book program, which next focuses on two books: The Little House Cookbook by Barbara Walker and New Prairie Kitchen by Summer Miller.

Here’s how it works: Participants choose one of several recipes from either book to make at home and bring to share at Siouxland Libraries Hartford Branch, 119 North Main Avenue, Suite A, Hartford. The get-together is set for Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Recipes are available at the branch or by calling 367-6384.

If an ADA accommodation is needed, please contact the Human Relations Office at 605‑367‑8745 (voice), 605-367-7039 (TTY), or at least 72 hours before the event.
