KITE NITE AT YANKTON TRAIL

YANKTON TRAIL | AGES 6+

On this day more than 260 years ago, Benjamin Franklin famously flew a kite with a key attached to it during a thunderstorm leading him to discover that lightning was a form of electricity. To celebrate this day in history, join us at the Levitt to decorate and fly your very own kite! Lift off wasn’t so successful? No worries as we will have enough time and parts to make sure there is high flying fun for everyone! Supplies provided. Registration required.

Did you know spending time outdoors reduce stress? Could you use a little stress release? if so, join us Saturdays in June and July to spend your morning fishing at Family Park. Fishing poles and bait supplied on a first–come, first–served basis. No registration required.

SUMMER SOLSTICE HIKE

GREAT BEAR RECREATION PARK AGES: 6-99

Celebrate the longest day of the year by partaking in a hike in one of Sioux Falls’ most beautiful parks. Hiking not only provides the physical relief of other exercise choices, hiking in nature has shown to be a powerful anxiety and stress reliever for people of all ages. Bring sturdy shoes and an adventurous spirit to partake in this summer solstice hike. Must be able to hike one mile on rocky and sometimes uneven terrain. Registration required.

FATHER’S DAY FUN RUN

DUNHAM PARK

Enjoy an afternoon of fun with your dad while gaining the benefits of being outdoors and active! Teams of at least two (one adult male and one child) will race throughout the park in a one mile run. Along the way, there will be fun challenges to complete. Dress alike to make your team stand out! Registration required.
