Brownfield Assessment Program
WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?
The City of Sioux Falls has received $400,000 in grants from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to perform brownfield assessments on properties within the city. Funds can be used to perform assessments on properties suspected or known to have contamination, such as petroleum, lead, and asbestos. Assessments on a property can include research of the historical use of the property and previously documented contamination, physical sampling and testing of the site to determine if contamination exists, and corrective action planning.
